There have been over 40 titles, with software sales of over 40 million units by 2014, and 58 million units as of 2020, making it one of the best-selling fighting game franchises, best-selling RPG franchises and best-selling licensed game franchises. Dragon Ball is a multimedia franchise debuting in the 1980s as a manga written by Akira Toriyama and published by Shueisha.
